Voters will have the chance to hear and size up the different contenders running for Assembly and County Supervisor on the 2004 March Primary ballot at a special candidates forum on Wednesday, February 4, at the McKinley Library, 601 Alhambra Boulevard. The program is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The upcoming election will be the first opportunity in many years for East Sacramentans to vote in an election without an incumbent on the ballot since Assembly member Darrel Steinberg and County Supervisor Muriel Johnson both are retiring from office.
Each participating candidate will make a formal presentation followed by a question and answer period. All announced candidates have been invited.
Seeking Steinberg?’s vacated Assembly spot are Democrats Donna Begay, Leslie Cochren, Roger Dickenson, Lauren Hammond, Manny Hernandez and Dave Jones, Republican Gaspar Garcia and Libertarian Gale Morgan.
Running for Johnson?’s non-partisan open seat on the County Board of Supervisors are James Daughenbaugh, Michal Duveneck, Warren Harding and Susan Peters.
The program is scheduled to run until 8:30 p.m. and attendees will be able to go ?“one-on-one?” with the candidates after the conclusion.
The event is being sponsored by the East Sacramento Improvement Association, the McKinley Elvas Neighborhood Alliance, and the East Sacramento Chamber of Commerce.
