The Meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by Ted Peters, Vice President.
1. Community Service Police Officer Chris Lyons reviewed the current
crime statistics pertinent to the MP service area of Adam 2 (now
designated Division 26, Beat 4). Overall Officer Lyons reported that
crime had declined 7% (Sept. to Sept.) with the exception of burglaries
(up 21%) and attempted rapes (up 70% +). He quickly noted that the
perpetrator responsible for the rape incidents had been apprehended and
was in jail under substantial bond. The assailant lived in the apartment
where the rape incidents occurred. Officer Lyons then informed the
meeting that the person responsible for the violent August robberies of
two elderly women (one of the incidents occurred along the
restaurant/service/retail section of Montford) had been caught and was
being charged with numerous other robberies and attempted robberies in
Charlotte, Matthews and surrounding areas.
Officer Lyons is continuing with an initiative that follows upon concerns
expressed by MP residents living south of Tyvola Road. He is
coordinating with the community service officer responsible for the area
which is in the (formerly) Baker 2 patrol area in order to generate crime
statistics for that section of MP. An MP resident then noted that
Officer Lyons forwarded his e-mail address to Baker 2 traffic officers
who then contacted him for his knowledge of speeding and cut-through
traffic in the neighborhood. The MP resident noted that Baker 2 traffic
officers began patrolling Londonderry that very afternoon.
Officer Lyons noted that Baker 2 has committed to attending future
meetings of the MP association.
Ted Peters then recognized and formally thanked Officer Lyons for his
efforts in helping to make the annual fall MP picnic such a success and
for coordinating the Adam 2 patrol and bicycle units attendance as well.
[Ted Peters then remarked that the MP association in working and getting
results. He noted the example (see above): Where concerns raised by a
MP resident at the September meeting generated phone calls by officers of
the MP association to Baker 2. A Baker 2 community service officer
attended the MP fall picnic. He and Officer Lyons continue to coordinate
their data gathering efforts with the goal of providing MP with accurate
monthly crime statistics.]

concerning the 3rd annual MP fall picnic held from 3 to 5pm on a
gloriously sunny, Sunday, September 29th afternoon. Ted then recognized

one of the attending patrol officers) and the core entr?©e of the picnic -
