• Fourth Annual Madison Park Community Yard Sale was hosted on May 5th. The event was well attended and lots of junk was sold. Thanks to Sara Johns.
• Madison Park Bike Ride to Open Streets was held on April 29. Three riders participated. Thanks to Stephen Gilbert for leading the endeavor.
• Tom Inn is officially the HOA Treasurer. Many thanks to Carly Baker for helping with the transition.
• Madison Park HOA is an official agency that can take advantage of the Charlotte Community Toolbank. The tool bank provides sharing access to tools, equipment and other entertainment resources at a deeply discounted price. This will be useful for future neighborhood events and projects.
• The Stitch Together CLT initiative is developing the next generation of community leaders in Charlotte. The project kick-offed on April 28th. I have enlisted the assistance of Ann Batson, Bill Helmke, Tracy Shook and Kara West to help with this project. Madison Park will be hosting an event, for September 22nd, for all 72 participants in this initiative. • The Board unanimously approved a vote to work with Trees Charlotte to see how we can get more benches and trees into Madison Central Park. The plan is to add 30 trees and a couple of benches. Hopefully, this initiative will result in a fall tree planting project as a fall clean up.
• Seneca/Wedgewood Storm Water project will continue thru August. Intermittent blockages on Seneca will continue for at least a couple of weeks.
• Aaron Moody and Doug Welton met with CDOT at the intersection of Longwood and Bradbury. They discussed the details of narrowing that intersection. Spectrum Properties is planning to address this issue also with a traffic calming solution. CDOT was supportive of the options that were proposed. Next steps are to talk with the surrounding neighbors and coordinate with Spectrum Properties.

Madison Park Recycling Event (Earth Day Celebration) 4/21/2018 - (A Report Out)
Thank you to TreesCharlotte for the tree seedling donations, Goodwill Industries for the donation trailer and our corporate sponsor, Office Depot for their financial investment on the shredding truck. Thank you to the volunteers including Rick and Ellen Aldridge, Doug Welton and his son, Conrad West and Jennifer Delorm. The informal count was more than 100 cars drove through the event. The Mecklenburg County Sherriff’s Department Medicine Drop Off and Crown Town Compost were newcomers to the event. Collecting plastic bags, batteries and light bulbs were also “pilot” ventures for this event. The day had beautiful weather. We will do it again in April 2019.
Madison Park City Walks – 5/5/2018 (A Report Out)
The event was a great success; the event was limited to 18 people but 24 people attended. The event was led by Tom Hanchett (the city historian), Pat Gubbins and Ruth Tansill. We visited three restaurants (Syrian, Vietnamese and Dominican Republic) along the South Boulevard border. A special thanks goes out to Pat Gubbins for her leadership and support. There were very few (if any) Madison Park neighbors. This is great news as it shows an interest from outsiders about our community. This occasion provided the opportunity to inform and share the Madison Park story. City Walks 2019 will include Madison Park again next year.
Memorial Day Flag Display –
Anybody who would like to place flags on the curbside of their street for the May 28th holiday, let Ruth Tansill know.
July Fourth Curbside Flag Display
This annual event will begin Saturday, June 30th and end Thursday, July 5th. Please let Ruth Tansill know if you would like to be a street host.
June 16th is Summer Marketplace for Small Business Owners from 9am to 12pm in Madison Central Park.
There will be a food truck on site for this event. Kara West is the event coordinator for this event.
