Many of you know I have been working with CDOT and Parks and Recreations for the last several months in an attempt to gain a safer and easier access to our neighborhood South of Tyvola and help gain a traffic light for the Park at the same time.

At our March 06 Madison Park HOA meeting I included my suggestions in our agenda. Since then I have met and gave a brief presentaion of my suggestions to CDOT, (along with our VP John Olsakovsky), The Greenway Advisory Council, The Marion Diehl Advisory Council, and most recently with the South District Advisory Council.

One of my goals is to gain Madison Park a traffic light on busy Tyvola Road where we can safely turn in and out of our community. Many of you on the South side of Tyvola have requested, going back as far as 2 years that I attempt to get us another traffic light on Tyvola. As you know that attempt failed. CDOT ,Doreen Szymanski, replied that since we had no turn lanes through Madison Park that installing another traffic light on Tyvola would increase rear-in collisions.

I also wished to be able to provide our residents with various options to reach the Queens Sports Complex, Marion Diehl Senior Center, Marion Diehl Pool, and The Future Greenway.

The suggestions call for
#1 Bike lanes to be added on Wedgewood between Seneca Place and Tyvola.
#2 Widening Tyvola Road between Wedgewood and Farmbrook to add a center turn lane and bike lanes to Farmbrook. This would give a left turn lane at Wedgewood where currently you can never turn left when heading West on Tyvola 24/7. It would also be needed to handle vehicles turning into the Park. CDOT would need to take a little of the frontage,(right a way property), from the Wedgewood Baptist Church to make this happen. It would not bother any of our residents property on Tyvola.
#3 Installing a traffic light at Farmbrook which will give us a second safer option to enter the community and exit our neighborhood.
#4 moving the old entrance to Marion Diehl down to Farmbrook.
