Beat the 2008 Increase

Posted in: Madison Park
Our 2008 annual dues will be 20 dollars. This is still cheaper than our sister neighborhoods in Charlotte. Will will have increase expenses in copies this year. In the past we have had copies donated to us for the most part.

YOU CAN BEAT THE 5 dollar increase by prepaying your 2008 dues NOW. If you choose the prepay we will renew your membership for the current 2007 rate of 15.00 dollars.

As always you are always welcome to pay extra dues if you like! All the money goes back into running the assocation and paying for events that are free to everyone.

None of your board or officers are paid for the many hours they put into running and keeping this neighborhood a great place to live!

I'm a hypocrite-but...

you read my headline-I don't show up to many meetings and I pay my dues late. I think our dues are extremely cheap and thats great (kind of).

BUT...besides social gatherings which I simply cannot attend-where else does this money go? I see the monthly minutes-I realize that its not a lot of $ just sitting there and I know that all of our members are giving up there own time voluntarily-but I truly don't care if we have a Holiday Social, or neighborhood get together.

Perhaps could we think of a goal to achieve? How about a sign recognizing Madison Park? Landscaping (with signs stating ''Paid for by the Madison Park HOA''). I just think that if people could actually see where there money (or people who dont pay could see) was going it would be beneficial to all.

Just putting it out there.
In Response How we Spend dues

Money goes for supplies, copies, postage, presentation materials, and for the three socials we do each year.

Hundreds attend our community events each year. They are a great opportunity to meet your police, politicians and neighbors and are very well attended. These socials are important to building a strong community!

The yard signs that are put out to remind people of the meetings were several hundred dollars. We have people requesting signs now, but we are simply out of them. This year we were fortunate to have 3 businesses donate 500 dollars each to HELP cover our Large Nationl Night Out Event. That event attracted more than 500 people.

We have looked at signs...
#1 someone has to give up their property
CDOT has to approve the easement right a way and sign.
(We have looked at matching grants for doing this)
We had one location coming off Woodlawn and the cost was in the thousands just to submit the application/request. That didn't begin to cover the cost.
#2 if you go with metal signs on poles (they are simply illegal and not allowed by CDOT)....we have checked.
We asked why they were allowed in Dilworth and were told ''historic district''.

Part of the reason we donate countless hours to keeping Seneca Place and Tyvola cleaned is so we get those 4 little metal signs that say Adopt A Street Madison Park HOA! They are legal and the only way to get signs. By doing this we get our name posted and at the same time do a good deed for the community and the city with the hundreds of bags of trash we pick up.

Money Is Also Given To Church

We also make a donation to the church each year for use of the space for our meetings.
