Kick-off of our spring classes: The ''Government and Neighborhoods'' class is scheduled for Thursday February 1, 6:30-8:30 pm. It's designed to provide a better understanding on how city government works. If you have neighborhood organization officers, board members or other residents who could benefit, please let them know about it. The classes are FREE. Several other classes will be held throughout the following months, covering topics such as diversity, effective communication, zoning and development, financial management, grant writing and such. The full schedule is on the attached brochure. Please sign up for those that interest you, and encourage others to do so, as well.
Neighborhood Matching Grants: Next application deadline is March 15. Organizations that intend to apply must attend one of four pre-application workshops, which are scheduled for January 30, February 6, February 10 and February 13. Visit our website (see link below) or call our office for times and locations, and to find out if your neighborhood organization is eligible to apply.
Neighborhood Symposium: 12th annual event is scheduled for March 31, 2007 at the Charlotte Convention Center. The theme is ''Neighborhoods in Action: Mobilizing, Organizing and Sustaining Success.'' Save that date!! More information to come.
