Hi Alan,
If you haven't done so already, check the pound every single day. Also ask them if your dog may be in the sick ward. If the dog comes in and happens to have kennel cough, they will put him in the sick ward for at least two weeks if he has kennel cough or if they are full, they will ask for volunteers to foster him. If a volunteer fosters him until he is well he may not be returned to the pound for several weeks in which case you won't see him. Keep going every day. They hold the dogs in the Stray Kennels sectioin for 72 hours from the time the dog came in and if the owner doesn't claim him by then he is then given a temperament test and if he passes then he will be put up for adoption. Then you will see him in the adoption kennels. There is also a book in the lobby where you can look if someone has your dog but doesn't want to take him there.
You can also call the Charlotte Observer and get a free listing under the lost and found section.
You can also post your dog on Petfinder.com and search to see if anyone has found him.
Finally, I would put flyers up which I'm sure you have already done and speak to all of your neighbors and show them a picture of the dog.
Don't give up hope! Keep looking and hopefully your dog will be found!
Take care,
