environmental impact of BT "Dead Birds"

Posted in: Madison Park

No..but I did see another bird this week dead at Smith Language Academy that appeared to be not injured.

Mayor Pro Tem, Susan Burgess did email saying she agreed it was odd.  She was not sure which dept. would handle.  I sent emails to the city manager and copied our district council so they could be aware.  I also did this in case they get other reports from other areas of the city.

WSOC said they would check into the dead birds.  I have not seen a story, but I might of missed it!  That might mean they could not make a connection or perhaps still are investigating it.

I have received replies of similar finds and have found 3 myself since last post.  Should I keep them or dispose of them?

I think perhaps an email to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Division of Migratory Bird Management

EPA web site gives examples of what they handle and do not handle.  It appears U.S Fish & Wildlefe Service might be the correct contact.  I stress MIGHT handle something like this.

Perhaps seek their advice on this situation.  I am not certain this is even related to the spray.  But it is odd that so many birds have turned up dead in recent days that don't show outward signs of injury.

Perhaps since you have three dead ones on hand that will be of interest to the division to at least send someone to test them.
