Gas Saving Tips

Fueleconomy.gov, the federal government's official site, estimates that:

1. Aggressive driving (speeding, rapid acceleration and braking) can cost you up to $1.23 a gallon.

2. Observing the speed limit can save you 86 cents a gallon.

3. Cleaning out your trunk can save you 7 cents a gallon.

4. A properly tuned engine is worth 15 cents a gallon.

5. Properly inflated tires save 11 cents per gallon.

6. Using the right oil for your engine could save 7 cents a gallon.

7. A new air filter is worth 37 cents a gallon.

These estimates came from two independent sources used by the government, and they were made when gas was at $3.76 a gallon
