Sidewalk along Murrayhill

Posted in: Madison Park

I think if you dig deep enough you will find that around 80% of all "City Government projects" are shady. It seems that almost anything will be said to keep damage control to a minimum. Like Marty said, what they may say to you and what  the truth is, are two seperate animals.

I have yet to find anyone in our city government who is out for the greater good. I do however find many that are out for themselves or one of the pet projects they have masterminded. Virtually all pay excellent "LIP SERVICE" and not a single one of them could give a darn about our community or it's problems.

It is very easy to hire your brother in law for a million dollar feasability study, and push the paperwork through, yet nothing gets done. Someone may inquire about the study, in this case we need another feasability study to see if the first feasabilty study was in fact feasable, and on it goes.

KEEP UP THE FIGHT! make those accountable, accountable. Ask questions, keep a paper trail, and demand your rights!!!

Good Luck, J. A. Witter

Thanks

You are correct and they can waste some money doing those feasability studies can they not!  Study the studies becomes a joke.   One of my favorites is when City Government takes a field trip to study how another city does something.

Re: the Murray Hill project:

We are fighting a similar situation on Park Rd. in Dilworth.  Vivian Coleman is blame for this mess, too.  They are trying to put an unneccesary sidewalk on the west side of the street even though there is one on the east side of the street.  They want 10' of property and will take down the trees.  And Vivian Coleman won't answer questions, provide details or even discuss the situation.

Any guidance you have would be appreciated.

These are my suggestions.

If you are for or against the project do the following.

Get your voices heard.

Sign up for public forum meetings prior to City Council meetings.

Write your At Large Council members

Attend Transportation committee meetings

Write the Transportation committee meeting members.

Contact your District Rep for Council.

Contact media.  Paper and TV NEWS

Expect whatever CDOT tells you to change a dozen times

Even if you are told a petition is not a part of the process feel free to turn one in for or against anyway.  Apparently what CDOT tells you about petitions does not matter.  They are looked at even when you are told they are not.  Turn these petitions in at a city council open forum, and turn one in at transportation committee meetings.

BOTTOM Line ENTIRE process for Sidewalks even though it was overhauled is a Joke in my opinion and needs to be scraped, redone, and then followed.

GOOD LUCK but remember CDOT is probably going to do what they want to anyway!

On our project they were going to meander around the trees.  I am a little surprised they are planning on taking down the trees.  Hopefully at minimum you can save your trees.
