There was a break-in at a home in Madison Park the week of 01/12/09, on Murrayhill. Thieves broke in through a back window and took a computer, flat screen TV, and other items.  This happened during the day on a weekday while the homeowner was at work.

Please make an effort to be extra diligent about knowing what is going on in the neighborhood - watch out for your neighbors and ask them to watch out for you.

If you don't know your neighbors, make an effort to get to know them.  We can all help stop this type of activity in the neighborhood by reporting anything you even 'think' might be suspicious.  If you think it doesn't look right, it probably isn't - call 911.  Our CMPD officers have told us time and again during the association meetings - that is the reason they are there.  They would rather us call and it not be anything, than to not call and have to investigate a robbery.

There has been a lot of concern in the news as of late, about Charlotte-Mecklenburg's 'revolving door' policy for repeat offenders.  Send a note to the Mayor and our City Council representatives and ask them to PLEASE encourage our State and local government to allocate funding to allow the District Attorney's office, the judicial system at large, and our state-run prison system, to prosecute these individuals and ensure that they are sent to, and remain in prison.  This is the only way to take the crime out of our City.
