Pet Food Bank

Due to financial hardships because of the poor economy, we have noticed an increase in our owner surrendered pets due to cost associated with caring for a pet, eviction, foreclosure, etc.

We are in the very beginning stages of starting a pet food donation program to supply a food bank for pets.  We are hoping that in some cases being able to provide pet food to people in need will help them be able to keep their pet and not owner surrender to the shelter.

There are plans in the works to partner with an organization in the community that already offers food banks.

All types of pet foods are needed.  Dog, cat, puppy, and kitten.  Dry and canned foods are needed.  We will be distributing this food back to the public, so we can not accept opened food containers.

To make a monetary donation:

Mail a check:  The City of Charlotte
(in memo line please note Pet Food Bank Donation)

Mail Check to:

Need Assistance?
If you need food for your pets, we ask that you come by the shelter and sign up on our temporary help list.

The availabity of pet food supplies will depend on the amount of donations we receive.

As soon as we have additional information about a food bank partner to help with distribution we will have that information available on this webpage.
