March 23, 2009 Incident at Falls Creek Lane

Westover Residents,

On March 23, 2009 the police was called to a residence at the Timber Creek Apartments on Falls Creek Lane after it was reported that a shot may have been fired from one of the apartments.  When officers arrived on the scene, it was uncertain whether anyone was inside the apartment.  Per policy and protocol, the CMPD SWAT team was called to the residence.  Additional officers were also sent to the surrounding locations as a precautionary measure in the event there was a shooter in the residence. Residents in the surrounding apartments were evacuated from their homes for their safety.  Although many officers were on the scene, the incident was isolated to one apartment.

A search of the apartment was conducted and no threats to the community were discovered.  As soon as the incident was resolved, residents were permitted to return to their residences.  Many of you may have seen the many police cars and wondered if your personal safety was in jeopardy.  The Falls Creek Ln area is a safe community.  The management team has partnered with CMPD over the years to ensure that residents are able to reside in a safe community.  We are both committed to quickly notifying residents of crime problems that affect you.  At this time there is no need for alarm.  As always, I encourage everyone to remain aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the police by calling 911.

Regards,

Captain Stella Patterson
