I mentioned this issue with no shelter over the benches in our minutes last year.   Refer to 9/8/08 minutes

Mr. Doss, I wanted to let you know that we have identified a remedy to the situation you alerted us to, regarding the need for some shaded seating area at Tyvola Station.

Attached you will see the sketch that Chris Bauer put together identifying a proposed solution.  With the assistance of CATS facilities, we have identified two matching benches that we can install, so we are able to accomplish this for a relatively low cost.

This remedy is either underway or will be soon.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.  We appreciate hearing from our customers.  If you have any additional concerns or suggestions feel free to contact me.

The sketch shows the benches being placed under the shelter at each elevator as you come up the stairs.   My concern  that made me really notice this was some passengers waiting for trains would actually sit with the their feet dangling in the track bed under the shade of the elevator shelters.   Not only was it illegal to sit or lay next to the edge it was very dangerous.  I actually saw a girl that had fallen asleep and she barely got out of the way of the train.

This was the only platform designed where the shelter excluded the fixed benches.

It is nice to know some City Departments get things right and listen to the citizens of the city.
