Health Department Now Taking H1N1 Flu Shot Appointments

We are now taking H1N1 flu shot appointments for all target groups. Current vaccine supplies allow health department staff to administer the H1N1 vaccination to:

  • Pregnant women
  • People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months old
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel
  • Persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old
  • Persons aged 25-65 who have chronic medical conditions

  • Travel only when you feel well
  • Wash your hands often
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve
  • Get a flu vaccination if you’re in a target group

H1N1 Flu Shots for Anyone
We are now accepting appointments for anyone who wishes to be protected from the H1N1 virus. Appointments are available beginning Monday, December 7th and can be scheduled now online at www.meckhealth.org/h1n1 or by calling (704) 432-5100 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

2 H1N1 Flu Shots Needed for Children 9 Years Old and Younger
Parents are reminded that children through 9 years of age should get two doses of vaccine, about a month apart. Older children and adults need only one dose.

H1N1 and Kids
Children and adolescents with certain medical conditions are at higher risk of having complications from flu. All children under the age of 2 are also at a higher risk for flu complications. Learn what medical conditions put you at higher risk at http://www.cdc.gov/Features/ChildrenH1N1.
