CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It is that time of year, with the cooler temperatures, more deer are on the roads and wreaking havoc for drivers, and we're not talking about rural areas.

A Charlotte woman shared incredible story of a deer flying through her windshield and right into her face, and it happened just off of busy Park road.

Jodi Brown is an animal lover-- has three dogs and two cats running around her south Charlotte home.

"It was so frickin scary, I was freaking out," she says.

This weekend she had an animal encounter that was anything but fun.

"You know how scary that was? There was deer hair in my cheek. The deer hit my face. He hit me right here."

Brown was on her way home from work at Archdale Road just off of Park road Friday night when she saw the mother deer cross the road, and a baby right behind.

"I'm like ooh, there's a deer and then-- just then the deer jumped through my windshield and I freaked out."

She, and her car's windshield, took the brunt of the hit.

"My whole windshield came out at me and I was screaming, I was scared to death. There was blood everywhere."

When she got to the ER doctors there told her they're seeing this a lot.

"She said this happens, they have so many incidents, people with deer, and it's just been worse."

And we checked; it's happening most in, of all places, the suburbia of south Charlotte.

And while Jodi is still picking glass out of her hair, has a concussion and cuts all over her face, she is grateful she's already home with her dogs and recovering.
