Tee Off For A Good Cause: Golf Tourney Benefits Youth Sports Scholarship Fund

Did you know that more than 50 percent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg School students grades K-8 are eligible for free or reduced lunch? This is a direct correlation to family income levels, which affect kids' involvement in extracurricular activities such as sports.

Help us minimize this by becoming a part of Mecklenburg County's Dr. Charles L. Sifford Memorial Youth Sports Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament. This year’s event is Oct. 23 at the Charles T. Baseball

Grant Helps Park and Rec Enhance Youth Baseball Fields

Three youth baseball fields at Revolution Park will be refurbished by the end of September thanks to a $15,000 grant from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and ESPN.

The grant was awarded through the Access to Sports program, which benefits local park and recreation departments by helping to improve and expand their youth sports programs. Read more

Reedy Creek

Park and Rec, Storm Water Services Partner for Stream Restoration Project at Reedy Creek

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services are working together to improve the quality of life for aquatic species living in the creek and tributaries throughout Reedy Creek Nature Preserve.

The two organizations are currently designing a stream restoration project to stabilize stream bank erosion, restore the floodplains to their natural function, improve aquatic habitat and reduce pollution in the creek. Read more
