Making a Big Difference with The Big Spring Clean

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, in partnership with Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful, is hosting The Big Spring Clean on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is our annual stream cleanup event that was formerly called Big Sweep.

Each year, about 500 volunteers remove an average of 10 tons of trash. Volunteers have fun, make a big difference and learn the importance of taking care of our local waterways.

This year’s event will feature service projects at several staffed locations including:

  • Campbell Creek Greenway, 2116 Margaret Wallace Road, Charlotte
  • Irwin Creek Greenway - Irwin Avenue Elementary School, 329 N. Irwin Ave., Charlotte
  • Mallard Creek Greenway, 9729 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte
  • McMullen Creek Greenway, 8135 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte
  • Four Mile Creek Greenway, 7935 Council Place #200, Matthews
  • Latta Plantation Nature Preserve Picnic Area, Huntersville
  • Berryhill Nature Preserve - Berryhill Baptist Church, 9791 Walkers Ferry Road, Charlotte
  • Little Sugar Creek, 10348 Sam Meeks Road, Pineville
