Mecklenburg County will receive the following from the School of Government and Blue Cross:

  • Five regional forums at which the team will form goals, set plans for implementation, collaborate across fields and jurisdictions, and learn from experts on opioid-related issues
  • School of Government support throughout the process
  • $10,000 to assist with the costs of hiring a community project manager
  • $10,000 in implementation funding for the project

Third Report on Evictions in Mecklenburg County to be Released Wednesday

This Wednesday, Community Support Services will release the third installment of its series focused on evictions in Charlotte-Mecklenburg prepared by the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute.

The report, titled “Charlotte-Mecklenburg Evictions Part 3: One-month Snapshot of Eviction Court Records,” marks the first time local eviction information from court records has been analyzed and reported. It builds off the first two reports on evictions released in September 2017 and March 2018 by focusing on how and why tenants are evicted and the cost of evictions for landlords and tenants.

Additional information about what will be covered in the third report and why it matters can be accessed via the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing & Homelessness Dashboard by clicking here.

For more information, contact CSS Director Stacy Lowry at 980-314-8903 or Stacy.Lowry@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov.

Office of Management and Budget Receives National Award

Congratulations to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The department has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) 2018 Award for Excellence in Government Finance for sound budget practices.

The award is GFOA’s most prestigious award, recognizing contributions to the practice of government budget and finance that exemplify outstanding financial management. OMB received this award for their quarterly budget monitoring and reporting process. This detailed report has been very instrumental to the Budget Executive Team and County leadership by providing them with the best possible data to make informed funding recommendations.

The tool allows OMB to thoroughly monitor and analyze the County’s $1.7 billion budget. Management and Budget Director Michael Bryant accepted the award on behalf of the team at the GFOA conference earlier this month.

GFOA has adopted the quarterly report and added it their best practice tool kit.
