National Night Out

National Night Out 2018 is Tuesday, August 7th

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Organizations throughout Charlotte host NNO block parties, cookouts, porch sit-ins, ice cream socials and other activities to show their support of “no tolerance” for crime.  The goal of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is to have 100% officer contact at each registered event.

A Call for Participation: Our History Needs Your Story!

StoryMining 250 is a project of the Levine Museum of the New South and its community partners. It seeks to document and share the lives of Charlotte at this particular moment in time, through oral histories, exhibits, and special programs, 250 years since the city was founded. Your history is important to Charlotte’s history and you’re making history right now.  If you or someone you know has a story to share about making a home in Charlotte, we’d like to know!

To submit your story or nominate a storyteller, learn more here.

Community Engagement Service Areas

Community Engagement Service Area Teams are assigned to four areas and work directly with citizens, neighborhood and business associations, civic groups, and other community organizations to assist communities with project implementation and area revitalization. This allows us to develop meaningful relationships in the community and understand the unique characteristics and needs of each community served.
