City and County remind residents to stay off the roads

The City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and its partners continue to monitor Tropical Depression Florence. Please be aware that continued heavy rain is expected to fall through this afternoon, with flash flooding and downed trees possible.
Please stay off roads, unless absolutely necessary. Please be aware of the dangers of floodwaters and do not attempt to drive through flooded roads.
Service updates
- The CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar service is suspended today. Use bus routes 15 and 9 for connecting service. CATS bus and light rail are operating on a Sunday schedule, with some detours. Check schedules and alerts at ridetransit.org.
- Charlotte Douglas International Airport is open and operational. It is not closing. Please check with your airlines for the latest flight information.
- Trash collection will be on a one-day delay starting on Monday, Sept. 17.
- For non-emergency situations, call 311. Representatives are available 24 hours a day, through the inclement weather. During the storm, call 911 for any life threatening situations or to report limbs or trees blocking roadways.
- City and County offices will be CLOSED on Monday, Sept. 17. This includes all courts, as well as the Animal Care & Control shelter.
- DSS hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).
