For the record the HOA consisting of over 1800 homes has a pitiful paid membership of 38 people I learned today. What a joke! That would include the 9 board members. The board apparently sent out a letter, but there are paid members that claim they did not get it. Even board members told me yesterday they didn't think the meeting was going to happen.
No attempt was made to send out emails of the meeting!
No attempt to send out minutes of the monthly meetings in months!
No attempt to use Nextdoor to alert members of bylaw changes!
No attempt to even send a copy to the board members themselves!
No attempt to post on Facebook about the special bylaw meeting!
Now I don't kwow about you guys, but this doesn't passs the smell test. There is a reason for doing things under the table and it is NEVER Good!
This HOA is the most non reasponsive HOA ever! They ignore board members, they ignore residents, and former board members. I have heard directly from people that has experienced what I have from them.
Vote NO and tell them to get their act together or resign! The don't derserve to represent this neighborhood in any capacity.
Any board member that supports moving forward without proper notification is just as guility as Douglas Welton the president.
Any meeting tonight would be illegal for multiple reasons regardless of any attempt to take a vote.
They claim the bylaws need updating as they are confusing?
Well there are plenty of things in the current bylaws for the last 19 years that are stone clear.
Exmaples. Elections, Term limits, Special meetings & Regular meetings and what steps must be taken to call them.
Even if you have never paid dues in the HOA you have a right to have your voice heard. It is clear the HOA is trying to silence you!
I have directly contacted the board members and told them my 2 cents worth on the subject again today. I told them any action to night would be a clear violation of the bylaws.
Don't allow them to not follow the rules.
Come Dec. vote in some new board members! Way past time for some of them to be gone.
One thing the HOA did starting in 2015 was take away the ability for residents to vote in officers. From the time I was in the HOA in 2002 until the end of 2015 the officers were voted by the members for 1 year term. The directors served 2 year terms and then per the bylaws had to take a break off the board. By 2016 the elections stopped and your current president self appointed himself at a questionable board meeting that shows up on their web site as a monthly HOA meeting for April 2016. It was not it was a board meeting consisting of some board members that were not legally serving as they had maxed out their term or were not elected to be serving at the time If you read it you will see what I am talking about. Says it pretty clear in those brief minutes. I don't even think they had legal quorum when they held that meeting.
This is not about bylaw changes on its own. It is about not following the bylaws and doing as you please which has gone on long enough with this board.
