CHARLOTTE, NC, FEBRUARY 26 - The Humane Society of Charlotte (HSC) is gearing up for a new series of events to support community cat caregivers in Mecklenburg County. This initiative, Community CatSNIP, will take place at the Humane Society of Charlotte Spay/Neuter Clinic and will provide spay and neuter services to unowned outdoor cats at no charge.
HSC is now taking appointments for 60 cats to be sterilized, vaccinated against rabies, microchipped and ear-tipped. The event is open to all Mecklenburg County residents, by appointment only, and community cat caretakers and citizens can reserve space for up to 5 cats. Appointments can be made

The Community CatSNIP series is made possible through generous grants from PetSmart Charities and the American Society of the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). To meet expected volume, HSC will borrow mobile surgery and recovery clinics from Guilford County Animal Services.
"Community feedback has indicated that there is a large need for fee-waived TNR surgeries for unowned cats," stated Ellen Taylor, VP of Clinic Services. "Our goal is to partner with the Charlotte community to prevent shelter intake by way of spay/neuter. We hope to offer Community CatSNIP days quarterly as funding permits."
