The flu vaccine is your first and best defense against influenza. It’s not too late to get one - you can get a flu shot at your doctor’s office.
- Protect your personal space.
Did you know sneeze germs can travel across the room? And they linger in the air before going away. The flu is spread by sneezing, coughing and even talking – so if someone near you is sick, it’s okay to move to another seat.
You can catch the flu by touching an infected surface, but washing your hands helps stop germs from spreading. Wash your hands frequently, and scrub for about 20 seconds each time.
Avoid touching your face, eyes and mouth to lower your chances of getting sick. Easier said than done: It’s estimated that the average person puts a hand on their mouth or nose more than three times an hour.
Disinfectant is your best friend this season. Make it a point to clean and disinfect all surfaces, objects and toys that could have flu germs.
