Also starting Monday, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation announced that all senior centers will be closed and senior programs will be suspended until further notice. 

For the next 30 days, all activities and events at Park and Recreation facilities that anticipate more than 100 people in attendance will be cancelled. Organizers and event registrants will be notified by Park and Recreation staff.

DSS staff has contacted congregate clients and determined their need for meal services once the congregate sites are closed. Staff will assess and provide home-bound meals to program participants. Clients who have questions can call the JUST 1 call line at 704-432-1111.

The Homeless Resource Center at 618 North College Street is also closed and has moved to a boxed meal distribution process instead of congregate dining. Signs are posted alerting customers of the change at the Urban Ministry Center, Men’s Shelter of Charlotte and the Salvation Army Center of Hope
