All Mecklenburg County sports courts closed: Real-time updates Tuesday, March 31

All Park and Rec sports courts in Mecklenburg County are closed. 

Following clarification/guidance that was released over the weekend regarding the Mecklenburg County Stay At Home Order, all Park and Rec sport courts are now closed.

  • Parks and greenways are open for our community. With the warm weather they have been quite crowded. Social/physical distancing is a requirement. PLEASE comply.
  • Golf is permitted on golf courses. No other businesses related to golfing, i.e. golf ranges, should be open.
  • Basketball pick-up games, tennis and other games that involve the use of shared equipment and space are not allowed.
  • Use of playground equipment is prohibited.

I was just sent these photos of Tuckaseegee Park in west Charlotte. To prevent people from playing basketball, officials zip tied the nets and put a giant pile of dirt on the court. The tennis court was also zip tied @wsoctv
