Governor Cooper Talks with US Officials on Colonial Pipeline Shutdown  

Governor Cooper participated in calls with US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and Department of Energy Officials on the impacts of the cyber attack on the Colonial Pipeline. Sec. Granholm expressed that federal officials are working with utility and pipeline officials and pushing to quickly resume normal operations on the pipeline. Department of Energy Officials thanked the Governor for issuing his executive order declaring a State of Emergency and allowing for fuel waivers to make it easier to transport fuel supply in North Carolina.

 

NCDHHS Reminds Medicaid Beneficiaries of Friday, May 14 Open Enrollment Deadline for NC Medicaid Managed Care

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is in its final week of open enrollment for NC Medicaid Managed Care. Through Friday, May 14, beneficiaries can choose a primary care provider (PCP) and a health plan for their families’ care in preparation for the launch of NC Medicaid Managed Care on July 1.

 

Governor Cooper Proclaims Hurricane Preparedness Week 

Urges North Carolinians to update emergency plans and kits and to Know Your Zone  

Governor Roy Cooper has declared May 9-15 as Hurricane Preparedness Week, joining the national effort to make people more aware of the dangers of hurricanes and encouraging all North Carolinians to prepare for tropical weather. Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30.

 

N.C. Households Can Get Help With Monthly Internet Bills From Federal Program

North Carolinians can get critical help to pay for high-speed internet from a $3.2 billion federal program opening in May for families and households working, learning and shopping from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

North Carolina is emerging from a worldwide pandemic strong and growing, with new jobs and new neighbors arriving daily. We welcome this growth, but in order for our communities to thrive, our infrastructure must catch up and keep up. In recent weeks, Vice President Kamala Harris, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff visited North Carolina with a plan to help transform our state and nation’s infrastructure.

Join Monèt Noelle Marshall, writer, performer, and codirector of the short film prophesy, for an intimate, facilitated virtual session about the film, which will be screened during the workshop. Marshall will invite participants to go even deeper into the material, the emotions it brings up, and the ask it makes of us all. Come prepared with an open mind, willing heart, and commitment to do the work to build and be the world that is coming. The facilitator asks guests to bring writing materials.

How was the Eno River State Park created? Join a Park ranger for a hike along the Pump Station Trail to learn about Margaret Nygard and the Eno River Association, the group of citizens who preserved the land that is now the Eno River State Park.
