baby sea turtles

Martin,

Last month, the extreme heatwave that scorched the Pacific Northwest killed hundreds of people and over a billion marine animals. Please, will you make an urgent gift today to help us prevent future climate tragedies for people and wildlife?

Climate change is making extreme weather events like this happen more and more frequently—and plastic in our oceans is making extreme heat worse: A recent study found that plastic debris piling up in coastal environments creates a layer of insulation on the beach, causing the sand’s temperature to rise until it is uninhabitable for many species.

Marine wildlife like the green sea turtle are depending on us to prevent and mitigate these human-caused dangers. Can they count on you and your $30 today?

Green sea turtles spend much of their lives in shallow coastal waters all over the world, but mature females must leave the water to lay their eggs on their nesting beaches. The temperature of the nest helps to determine whether the hatchlings are male or female, so a global gender imbalance could eventually doom the species. The adult turtles, the nests and hatchlings, and their entire habitat are all at risk from rising temperatures and plastic debris.

Together, we can protect imperiled species like green sea turtles. Will you give $30 or whatever you can spare to help us end plastic pollution and other threats to wildlife?

Every week, more than 92,000 tons of plastic waste ends up in our oceans. Marine wildlife like sea turtles are suffering because of our reliance on plastic products. We can stop the flow of deadly plastics into our oceans and prevent it from piling up on our beaches, but we can’t do it alone.

Your gift today will support our work to safeguard sea turtles and other vulnerable species from threats like plastic pollution.

Thank you for taking a stand against human-caused dangers to wildlife.
