CMPD Working On Traffic Issue From School

Posted in: Madison Park

Sir,

Sorry for the later respond. I was on training

I’m aware of the traffic issue on Flagstaff Dr, Kentland Ln, and Londonderry Dr. I’ve been working with the CMS Police to resolve this issue and so far it’s improving.

My first major  issue is illegal parking along Flagstaff and Kentland, which creating traffic hazard for both regular traffic and school bus traffic

Second, CMS is still adjusting their drop off and pick up schedule due to over crowded vehicular traffic this return school year from Covid shut down last year. The first couple

Week of new school year expecting to be busy and abnormal. Myself is experience its traffic jam while taking my daughter to school in Rivergate area. So please understand

That this issue is occurring city wide. Westover Division showing low staff and sometimes there’s not enough man power to respond to 911 calls for service. I have notified

CMS Police and Patrol supervisor  regarding to your concern. I patrol these areas myself most of my tour of duty and will keep an eye on this problem.

I hope you understand as we ‘re working to improve the traffic and public safety out there.

Thank you

If you don't live on Londonderry or are involved in that line up in the evening stretching from school down Flagstaff, Down Kentland and then all the way up Londonderry Road out onto Tyvola you are missing all of the fun.

In the am we get speeding school parents running stops signs and driving like nutsm and in the evening we get bumper to bumper cars lined up blocking driveways and the lane of travel.  Flipping U-turns, and even making left hand turns on Tyvola from the wrong side of the street!

Options are for folks to go the opposite way, or do as some do and fly down the oncoming side of the road to get around the issue if you are just trying to drive down the street, or get home if you live in the impacted blocks.

If they don't correct this there is going to be a head on collision.

One neighbor said her driveway was blocked and she needed to go to work.  She blew horn and finally had to drive through her front yard to find a small gap between cars to get out only to have to go the wrong way to get to where she needed to go.

There has been a school on that ground for decades.   The other two schools Smith Middle and Smith Language Academy never caused these current traffic issues.

Hopefully it will improve.

If you have to come this way between 4 PM and 4:30 PM use Seacroft or Farmbrook to avoid being stuck in the line up of parents.
