The 2020 census numbers are in and maps options for new Charlotte City Council districts are drawn.

Now is your chance to weigh in on Charlotte’s redistricting process. You’re invited to provide feedback and ask questions of council members and City of Charlotte staff during a listening session on Oct. 5 at 6 p.m.

Redistricting is important because it impacts who can represent you and balances the populations of City Council districts — a legal principle known as “one person, one vote.” The city is redistricting as required by law because City Council district population numbers have changed significantly since the 2010 census.

To ensure the City of Charlotte is abiding by “one person, one vote,” we’d like to hear your thoughts on draft maps of possible City Council districts.

This a virtual event. Participants who would like to speak must register. The event will also be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. If you are unable to attend on Oct. 5, you may also email any feedback or questions to redistricting@charlottenc.gov. For more information visit cltgov.me/redistricting.
