Map A, C, & D would leave Madison Park in council district #6. If Map B is chosen Madison Park would be split between district #1 and district #6. BAD IDEA. Madison Park needs to be kept in tact as one great neighborhood. Yes there has always been a few homes across E. Woodlawn in Madison Park, however this would take a huge chunk of Madison Park all of voting area Precinct #37, and move them into District #1. That means neighbors on Seneca Place on the North side would be District #1 and those on the south side would remain in district #6.
Years ago when I was President of Madison Park HOA we had several splits. Tyvola south was South Division Police and North of Tyvola was Westover. That meant two different police division and twice as many monthly presentations at or meetings each month. It also meant as president we had to deal with two different methods of doing the same police/community work. Both districts were great it was just a problem.
You could say the same thing regarding trash pickup solid waste years ago. South of Tyvola a the time was picked up City of Charlotte trucks. North of Tyvola was picked up by contract sanitation workers. Again, two different methods of doing the same work.
Same thing regarding the Quality of Life Study. We worked hard a decade plus ago to get Madison Park all on one study map.
I personally hope you, and all our Madison Park residents will join me in encouraging the Council to keep Madison Park both sides of Tyvola in one district.
