Emergency Preparedness: Winter Storm Safety - November 4, 6 p.m.

Winter can bring with it a wide variety of potentially dangerous weather. Join us on November 4, at 6 p.m. for the last workshop in our emergency preparedness series, Winter Storm Safety. This workshop will discuss how to protect your family, pets, and home during a winter storm. 

The workshop will take place via Zoom. Registration is required. Online and call-in access instructions will be emailed to registered participants prior to the workshop.

 

America Recycles Day: Recycling During Covid-19: Impacts and Solutions - November 15, 6 p.m.

In honor of  America Recycles Day, Keep Charlotte Beautiful will host a two-hour virtual panel discussion on the topic “Recycling During Covid-19: Impacts and Solutions.” Guest speakers representing City, County, and nonprofit recycling initiatives will discuss the impact the pandemic had on the local recycling system, how they met challenges, and what the future of recycling looks like in Charlotte. 

 

Join us on November 15, at 6 p.m. for this insightful conversation. There will be an opportunity for Q+A immediately following the presentation. Register online to participate.

 

 

Keep Charlotte Beautiful Accepting Grant Letters of Intent through November 17

Have an idea for a beautification project in your community? Keep Charlotte Beautiful (KCB) wants to hear about it! The program is currently accepting Letters of Intent for up to $5000 to go towards neighborhood and community projects that fall within its main tenets: litter prevention, waste reduction, community greening, and beautification. The grant is open to organizations citywide.

Introducción a CharMeck 311 - November 17, 6 p.m.

 

CharMeck 311 is the customer contact center that provides information on City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County services. CharMeck 311 can assist with water service problems and billing questions, reporting code violations or requests for non-emergency police services and much more. Join us to learn about the many ways CharMeck 311 supports Spanish-speaking residents.

 

This workshop will take place via Zoom and will be delivered in Spanish. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions. Registration is not required. Small Scale Development Lecture - November 4, 6 p.m.

 

Main Street America’s UrbanMain program has started its next phase of revitalization programming with the City of Charlotte and Historic West End Partners in the Beatties Ford Road/LaSalle commercial district. In this upcoming phase, UrbanMain is partnering with Incremental Development Alliance to provide technical assistance for small real estate developers interested in investing in and developing the corridor. Drive-through Community Candy Drop - October 30, 2 - 4 p.m.

 

Ten Charlotte Fire Department Stations will host Candy Drop events on Saturday, October 30. This is a drive-through event only. Participating fire stations include: 

 

  • Station 1 - 221 N. Myers St. (Central Charlotte): Enter off 6th Street stay on N. Myers Street, nearest the side driveway (do not lock bay doors), exit onto 5th Street. Follow directional signs.
  • Station 10 - 2810 Wilkinson Blvd. (West Charlotte): Pull into the driveway via gate, circle the parking lot to exit. Follow directional signs.
  • Station 18 - 2337 Dr. Webber Ave. (North/West Charlotte): Enter off Senior Drive, stay on Dr. Webber Avenue, nearest the side driveway (do not block bay doors), exit onto Beatties Ford Road. Follow directional signs.
  • Station 31 - 3820 Ridge Road (North Charlotte): The candy drop will be on Shelley Avenue. Follow directional signs.
  • Station 35 - 1120 Pavillion Road (North Charlotte): One way, pull through the front driveway.
  • Station 36 - 2325 W. Mallard Creek Road (North Charlotte): One way, pull through the front driveway. 
  • Station 37 - 13828 S. Tryon St. (South Charlotte): One way, pull through the front driveway.
  • Station 39 - 8325 Providence Road (South Charlotte): One way, pull through the front driveway
  • Station 40 - 9720 Harrisburg Road (East Charlotte): One way, pull through the front driveway.
