Remember No Plastic Garbage Bags For Yard Waste

Posted in: Madison Park

Solid Waste Crews are no longer allowed to empty the plastic garbage bags or take them.  If you put stuff out in those bags you will most likely get fined $150 dollars and still have to put them in paper.  You can self haul for a fee to a full service center, but upon arriving you will also have to empty the garbage bags of yard waste.

So get reusable leaf totes, plastic personal containers, or paper bags.

You also are not allowed to put yard waste on curb on tarps.  There is a product called leaf burrito that you can use that zips.

I have noticed seveal people have switched to those tarp material leaf bags.  Amazon has some at reasonable prices.   I have encourged the city to consider getting those bags for the residents, or trying to offering the bags at a discount.    Not sure that will happen, but those reusable totes to me are better than using paper bags.  Paper bags are apparently more enviornmentally bad in regards to what it takes to make them.  Trees and the process.    These large round barrel like totes some people have switched to seem like the best option for the environment and for Yard Waste crews.

Plus you can collaspe and store until you need them.

The County spent 100K on free paper bags this year, and that does not include what the city spent on the ones they gave out.    That is a waste of money to me since they are a one time use.   Residents will for the most part be responsible for obtaining their own containers, and papers bags going forward.

I think there is around 350K homes in Charlotte!  Single Family residential style homes.

Amazon sells the Home Depot paper bags, Lowes paper bags, and a generic leaf bag in paper!
