Charlotte NC has rules under zoning how tall a fence can be on your property.
Front yards 5 feet,
Side yards 6 feet,
Rear yards 8 fee!
These rules can very if you are on a corner and your fence is in front set back! They might be even shorter. Keep your front fence out of right of way.
If you don't follow them you will end up being fined by zoning until your reduce the heights.
I know of at least 3 locations where residents did not follow the rules, and all three had to lower the fences.
All three locations the fences looked nice. They again were just too tall!
