Upcoming Events and Engagement Opportunities

City of Charlotte offers $3,000 matching grants for neighborhood tree care projects – Apply by October 1

Charlotte takes pride in having one of the most expansive tree canopies in the country. We couldn’t achieve this without the hard work of Charlotte residents like you! In order to celebrate the rich biodiversity found in our urban forests, educate the public on how to take action to maintain our canopy, and protect our forest for years to come, Landscape Management and Housing & Neighborhood services are proud to present this year’s Tree Care GrantEligible neighborhood organizations citywide can apply for matching grants of up to $3,000 for tree care initiatives including canopy assessment, ivy removal, small tree/ sapling pruning, and tree focused education and community events.

Volunteers Needed! Tree by Tree Volunteer Tree Inventory

Charlotte is known for its lush, urban tree canopy that covers nearly 46% of the city. In fact, it’s recognized as one of the best urban forests in the nation. To help protect and preserve Charlotte as the City of Trees, we are launching the City of Charlotte Tree by Tree volunteer tree inventory on October 5, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

We need your help! We are looking for a group of volunteers to be part of a tree inventory program to maintain the vibrant forest that has crowned Charlotte the “City of Trees.”

As a group of volunteers, you will walk through one of Charlotte’s neighborhoods and add trees to the Tree by Tree map. If you’re not sure what that means, visit Tree by Tree and watch the videos to learn more. Don’t worry, the City of Charlotte Landscape Management’s expert staff will be there to help on inventory day!

If you are passionate about our city's tree conservation, now is your chance to ensure our trees stay beautiful and thriving for future generations.

Sign up to volunteer at We Inventory Trees. For questions contact Natasha Warren, Program Coordinator with City of Charlotte Landscape Management at landscapemanagement@charlottenc.gov.
