Keep Charlotte Beautiful (KCB) is hiring in partnership with Resilience Corps NC! We’re looking for a talented, outgoing individual to serve as Engagement and Education AmeriCorps Specialist starting in September 2023 and ending in July 2024. The purpose of this AmeriCorps position is to expand the scope and capacity of Keep Charlotte Beautiful to conduct effective volunteer outreach and provide environmental education within Charlotte, with an emphasis on underserved, low-income, and non-traditional communities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Further expanding and developing Keep Charlotte Beautiful’s educational programming in CMS schools
- Assisting in managing KCB’s Adopt a Street and Adopt a Bus Stop Programs
- Planning cleanups and volunteer events, including those related to Bee City USA initiatives
- Engaging the public via KCB social media accounts and representing KCB at events
- Working with other departments to develop unique partnerships and programming
The ideal candidate will be able to work a 40 hour work week and some weekend events, carry objects in excess of 25 pounds, and walk at least two miles in variable weather conditions.
This position includes a living stipend starting at $25,000, opportunities for professional development, and a $6895 Education Award upon completion of the 1700 hour service term.
