Follow the new Recycle Right Charlotte / Mecklenburg Reycling Rules to ensure your Green Carts are picked up!
The cards have been mailed to hundreds of thousands of Charlotte Residents. Cans are being stickered with what to put in them.
Only six items go in your green carts.
When in doubt throw it out, but if you just follow the 6 items on card you will be doing it right!
If you did not get the mailer I have uploaded both sides on this website under pages. The first two current pages on this Madison Park site are the mailer from City of Charlotte!
Remember to NEVER bag anything in your green cart. If you bag it is not recycled and goes to the Speedway Landfill at a cost currently of around 2 Million dollars a year. Items must be placed clean and dry in the cart unbagged.
Carts that clearly have the wrong items stand a good chance of not being picked up until you correct the violation.
Remember get you carts off the street by 11:59 PM on pickup day and be sure they are on the street by 6 am pickup day. Otherwise you face potential starting fines of $150 per can. You can place carts out the day prior, but again they must be off street by 11:59 pm on pickup day.
Avoid placing any carts or yard waste on public sidewalk.
