Remember doing things wrong cost more out of our pockets. Example everyone that does not follow the curbside rules for recycling is costing you money. Recycling right saves you money.
It cose Mecklenburg county 2 million dollars a year to haul your trash that you throw in the recycling carts curbside each day from the MRF to the Speedway Landfill. That does not include equipment damage at the MRF and injuries to staff.
Do it right.
Two Key things never toss batteries in the recycling carts. Rechargable batterys start fires. Take them to a full service center or a store like Home Depot or Lowes that takes them back safely.
Never BAG anything in that cart.
Only thing in the cart plastic is plastic bottles and jugs with a neck. All other plastic goes in trash.

Meck county solid waste $5 dollar increase is not that bad. Reason last year the tax department for County forgot to add the increase to the bills. So 2023 is the first increase in two full years for solid waste fee from Meck County.
City solid waste fee increase is 8.58!
