Bee City & Bee Campus USA Virtual Affiliate Meetup: Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region

Are you a Bee City or Bee Campus affiliate in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Delaware, Maryland, or the District of Columbia? Join us for our virtual regional affiliate meetup!

 

Kelly Gill, Xerces Society’s Senior Pollinator Conservation Specialist for the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region will give a short presentation on regional pollinator conservation activities Then we will have an extended Q&A and group discussion with Kelly and Bee City and Bee Campus USA National Coordinator Laura Rost.

 

This is an opportunity to share your successes, ask for advice, and connect with your fellow affiliate cities and campuses.

2022 was another notable year for Bee City USA and Bee Campus USA. We celebrated our 10-year anniversary, debuted new logos, and added almost 50 new affiliates to grow the network beyond 325 affiliates—and in doing this expanded into two new states, Arizona and Oklahoma, plus Puerto Rico. Read our 2022 Annual Report

States Make Way For Pesticide Reforms

From cherished pollinator species to dung beetles (the unsung heroes of decomposition), insects are in decline. Pesticide overuse is one of several leading causes.

 

But there is good news! This spring, bills were introduced to state legislatures across the nation to better regulate and reduce pesticide use, reflecting increased awareness among lawmakers about the impacts pesticides have on pollinators and other wildlife. Read more

Pollinator-Friendly Cover Cropping for Vegetable Producers in the Upper Midwest

Xerces has a new publication! It's a bit specific, but we know many of our Bee City and Bee Campus affiliates have vegetable gardens, farms, and community gardens, and cover cropping is one way to include these as part of their pollinator habitat efforts. Read Pollinator-Friendly Cover Cropping for Vegetable Producers in the Upper Midwest and feel free to pass it along.
