A bag of drink cans is NEVER opened and ends up in the landfill.
Do not put anything in the cart except for the SIX Items on the sticker. If not sure go to WIPEOUTWASTE.com. It gives you the six items. This is all that goes in the GREEN Recycling Can in all of Mecklenburg County! Charlotte uses the Green can. It is the same items county wide.
Nothing but Bottles and Jugs with a neck if plastic goes in to green cans. NO OTHER PLASTIC. No food containers, No plastic bags, No wide mouth plastics!
Cardboard & small boxes. Clean Pizza Boxes are ok! (NOT CLEAN trash it)
Empty Metal Cans
Milk & Juice Cartons
Paper & Magazines
Glass Bottles & Jars (Lids on - Okay)
NOTHING ELSE MEANS NOTHING else.
Everything else goes into your trash cart. Some other materials can go to a full service center. Check with Wipeoutwaste.com. Curb side is just for the above six items.
AGAIN NEVER BAG anything in that green cart. It is not opened and goes to the landfill at a cost to us of 2 million every year. What a waste of money because people can't follow the rules.
Remember if you don't want to follow the Recycle Right program then call 311 and have your recycling green cart picked up. We don't want you recycling if you are not doing it right! You cost millions, damage equipment, contaminate the recycling stream, and even cause injuries to staff at the recycling center.
When in doubt THROW IT OUT!
