THINGS TO DO AND PLACES TO GO IN THE MADISON SOUTH NEIGHBORHOOD

Visit historic Joseph Wood Hill Park at the crest of Rocky Butte. Learn about Joseph Wood Hill Park from the newly installed plaques detailing its history and enjoy a magnificent view of the Portland area and the Columbia Gorge. You may access Rocky Butte at either 92nd Avenue and N.E. Fremont Street or 92nd Avenue and N.E. Russell Street.

Stop by The Grotto and the Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother located at N.D. 84th and Sandy Boulevard, and enjoy the beauty and serenity of this beautiful and unique place. Church services are held each Sunday and the Festival of Lights is a must see during the month of December.

Ride your bike along the Tillamook Bike Path from N.E. 65th Avenue to its terminus at N.E. 92nd Avenue, and take in the sights of the Rose City Golf Course and Hancock Park. If you enjoy a challenge, turn north on 92nd Avenue and bike up Rocky Butte to the Jospeh Wood Hill park, or turn south at 92nd Avenue and follow the signs to the Gateway Transit Center to get to the bike path that parrallels I-205.

If you’re into golf, play a round at the Rose City Golf Course, 2200 N.E. 71st Avenue, or practice your swing at the 82nd Avenue Golf Center and Driving Range, 2806 N.E. 82nd Avenue. Cascade Lanes, 2700 N.E. 82nd Avenue, is the place to bolw. Sign up for league play or just drop in for a line or two of bowling. And, if you just want to get fit, Nelson’s Nautilus at 8333 N.E. Russell Street, has all of the latest in fitness equipment as well as an Olympic size swimming pool. There is always lots to do in Madison South!
