Treasurer's Report:
Balance of $1,065.35. Deposits of $65 and withdrawals of $15.03. Robert Thompson submitted bills for photocopying of $18.12 & $0.43 and $176.45 for replacement of the bronze, time capsule plaque (mentioned below). All payments approved.
Correspondence:
Wednesday, May 17th, 10am, Torrance police will hold a memorial service at the Torrance police station for the four police officers who lost their lives while being Torrance Police officers.
Public Hearing: 1605 Greenwood, change current classification of existing "2 family residential development," into condominiums and a request to divide the lot. This is a corner property with an existing small white house.
Previous Neighborhood Complaint:
Previous complaint: car still remains on the lawn of 1633 Hickory.
The over-grown vegetation on the vacant 1716 Date property was cut.
2850 Monterey:
No additional information on this housing development. An occasional truck has been seen on the site.
Old Magnavox Site:
Developer hoping to be heard at June 7th Planning Commission meeting.
Orals:
Jack Perry indicated that Carolyn Keith (Manager Public Relations, Mobil Refinery) and representatives from Dow and Union Carbide would speak at our next meeting June 1st regarding their early warning system. A siren from the system is tested the 1st Wednesday of every month.
Brief discussion on the proposal (Nov 1999) to expand Fern school with the addition of a 2nd story. This homeowners association previously suggested another option is to use the existing buildings on the Greenwood Park site (location of our Madrona Homeowners Association's monthly meetings).
Time Capsule:
Bronze plaque has been ordered from A&E Trophy in Lomita. It will take 6-8 weeks for the plaque to be completed.
