We are looking for a few good men or women to serve as block captains for a neighborhood watch program. We have all the information we need from the LAPD to get started - now we need the volunteers!
Because of the large number of homes in our Association, we have been advised to break our quadrant into four to six watch areas, each with a block captain and assistant captain. In addition, it would probably be a good idea to have a central captain to stay in touch with the individual captains, communicate between watch areas, and help organize all the watch areas as needed.
All neighborhood watch officers will be required to have a quarterly meeting, which will be attended by the Senior Lead Officer for our area. This is our "direct line" to the LAPD.
1. You must be concerned for the safety of your neighborhood and extremely dependable in a time of need (that's a given, we hope!)
2. You must be reachable by your neighbors at all times of the day or night, such as by cell phone.
3. You must have email access for important updates and alerts.
4. You must attend a quarterly meeting, scheduled at your convenience.
5. You must be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality, since you will have access to personal information about your neighbors.
