A fire broke out in the neighborhood this week. The house on Tendick at Ira is reportedly one of the few Sears kit houses left in the city. The daytime fire, apparently caused by a malfunctioning air conditioner, had first been spotted by a neighbor on Eleanor. Flames poured out of the attic as firemen arrived to douse it. The house has obvious damage to the roof and attic area where the fire destroyed only old clothes and furniture. No one was injured.
The house, fortunately, is insured.
