Radar Speed Signs

Posted in: Mansion Farm

What benefit does the community receive from the recently installed radar speed signs?  Those who speed, continue to do so.  Last week I saw a school bus pass one of the signs at 41 MPH.  The day before I saw a police car pass at 32 MPH.  If these two segments of society disregard the radar speed signs, what does that say to the rest of us law abiding citizens?

Not sure of the benefit except to remind us of the unreasonable "slow" limit set for our main access roads. I would be in favor of raising the speed limit up to a blazing 30mph and reducing the limit to 20 on our residential streets.

As for your comment about the police car speed, I think it would really depend on why THEY were speeding.  It could have been to something that came in over their radio that for some reason didn't warrant emergency lights.....or maybe not.  You wouldn't know unless you asked the driver.

We must have a bunch of bad stuff happening in the neighborhood if the cops are on their way to an emergency when they speed through MF.  I've never seen one NOT set that radar sign off by going at least 38-41 MPH.  Usually on the phone too.  I thought that was against the law in Delaware.
