BRING A NEIGHBOR!!    STAY INFORMED!!    COMMUNITY IN ACTION!!

“A Community That Plays Together Stays Together”

Please come to the YHCA Family Fun Day on Sunday afternoon, June 1st  from

1:00-3:00. This will be the second year for what we hope becomes an annual community event. More than 60 people attended last year’s event, and all reported having a great time. We hope to see even more of you at the upcoming Family Fun

Day. Studies show that community activities such as family fun events build

community spirit, help neighbors get to know one another better, and contribute to making communities better places in which to live…all goals of the YHCA.

Below you will find a Spanish translation of the paragraph above. In order to reach

out to our growing number of Hispanic residents, one of our Board members

graciously consented to translate the Family Fun Day information for us. This

translation also appears on our Yorkshire-Haverford Facebook page.

                                    Debbie  Henninger

                                    Your President

a great place to live.

JOIN …. FACEBOOK  “Yorkshire-Haverford” … our community website and used as our “Neighborhood Watch”  *Facebook a “social networking website, is a great way to keep our community apprised of situations happening, i.e. :meetings, functions within the community, criminal or suspicious activity, zoning concerns, etc. Why not join us today and keep up with the news. See You at the Triangle - Sunday, June 1st (1:00 pm-3:00 pm)

Mark this date on your calendar and join us for the 2nd annual Family Fun Day to be held at the community triangle located at the intersection of Greenmeadow and Tree.  Door prize drawings, games, hot dogs, popcorn, drinks, and a KONA Ice treat available to all. It’s a great way to celebrate our community, meet your neighbors, and have some family fun.  And remember, it’s not too late to help out. We can still use some extra hands and contributions for the event... If you are able to help, please contact committee chair Tammy Devlin at 443-765-6200 as soon as possible.

Attention Retires and People Who Work at Home

We need you to become a daytime C.O.P. to patrol our streets and report suspicious activity. Police report that most burglaries happen when people are at work, so daytime patrols between the hours of 8:00 - 3:00 are particularly important.  Driving the entire YHCA area can be done in 30-45 minutes, or you can sign up to cover half the route, or even less if that fits into your schedule better. You can drive one day or as many days of the week or month that work for you. To make C.O.P. truly successful, we need you to sign-up. Please volunteer. Contact committee chair Tammy Devlin at tdevlincop@yahoo.com or 443-765-6200).

YHCA Personal Touch Award Winner

Congratulations to # 10 Edgemoor Road, our 7th Personal Touch recipient. These residents were nominated for being the neighbors everyone would want to have… kind, friendly, helpful, welcoming.  It was also noted that for the more than 25 years they have lived on Edgemoor, the residents at #10 have continuously kept up with their landscaping and kept their house in pristine condition. Nominations are now open for Evans.   Please contact any YHCA officer or board member to nominate a property and/or resident. Remember, whatever highlights catch your eye will be considered - a welcoming entrance, nice front yard, helping a neighbor, doing community service… Please provide a brief explanation for your nomination.

Junk Sold, Treasures Bought

Whether or not you were a seller or buyer, those participating in the YHCA annual yard sale on Sat., May 3rd, had a good time. It was a great day for clearing out clutter, finding “treasures”, meeting neighbors, and making a little extra money. A sincere thank you goes to all of those residents who took part this year.  If you missed the event, please plan on participating next spring. The YHCA schedules this annual event the first weekend in May.
