Mar Vista Neighborhood Council was Certified on 8/13/02.

Our Mar Vista Neighborhood Council, which calls itself the Mar Vista Community Council (MVCC), was certified by the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners on August 13, 2002, as the 41st certified neighborhood council in the City of Los Angeles.

Before voting for certification, a number of Neighborhood Commissioners urged the restoration of a wider and more inclusive definition of the term "stakeholder" in the bylaws (version as submitted on 7-27-02).

The next big step for the newly certified MVCC will be the election to its Board, following extensive outreach. If the experience of others is a guide, the election will probably take place at the turn of the New Year.
