MVCC Organizing Committee - Policies

Mission Statement and Policies as Adopted by the MVCC on 7/9/02

Whereas the stakeholders of the soon to be formed Mar Vista Community Council (MVCC) wish to become certified as a community council by the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners (BONC) of the City of Los Angeles, and

Whereas an Organizing Committee has been established to function as the interim governing body during the formation of the Community Council,

Now therefore, the Organizing Committee hereby establishes the following goals and objectives as its mission statement and policies:

The function of the Mar Vista Community Council Organizing Committee shall be to oversee all aspects of the formation of the Community Council up to and including the certification process by BONC and the election of the initial Board of Directors,

The Organizing Committee shall provide structure, leadership, guidance and support for the sub-committees that have been or will be established before the completion of the certification process by BONC (such committees include, but are not limited to, the Bylaws Committee, Outreach Committee, Certification Committee, and any Ad Hoc Committee that may be established),

The Organizing Committee shall oversee the activities of all interim committees so that the overall policy, procedures and objectives of the MVCC are consistent with the objectives, policies, procedures and mission of the group,

The Organizing Committee shall instruct the sub-committee chairs on the procedures to follow to implement the above items, and

The Organizing Committee shall make recommendations for agenda items to be presented to the general membership for its approval.
