Big ?‘Scramble?’ Planned For Annual MM Easter Event

Plans for Marlborough Mesa?’s 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt are underway and neighborhood organizers are asking for your support.

If you live within the boundaries of Alma School Road and Extension, Guadalupe Road and the Chandler border, this is your event!

The event is planned for Saturday, April 5th at 10 a.m. at our park.

Last year?’s Easter Egg Hunt was a hit, as dozens of local kids streamed into an egg-laden park, in search of grand prizes and other goodies.

More than 70 children in three age groups took part last year.

Each race and egg hunt will have one age range event. Age ranges are:
4 years old and under;
5 to 7 years and
8 to 11 years.

As in past years, a grant from the Mesa United Way helps purchase the food, drinks and prizes. To add to the fun, please bring your favorite dessert to share with your neighbors.

As always, it is the Marlborough Mesa residents who volunteer their time and donated items that make this a great event.

Organizers are also looking for residents young and old to help before the event, during and after.

If you are interested please contact Linda Murphy at (480) 820-5742. Things still needed at a good price or donated:

* Clear or yellow wrapping paper for the grand prizes
* Yellow and light green ribbon
* A variety of small prizes like ?“Jeepers?” passes
* Candy, but no chocolate (it melts)
* Party bags
* Ketchup, mustard and pickles or relish
* Plates and napkins

All donations can be dropped off at the Murphy?’s, 3048 S. Spruce Street. If you do want to help please volunteer early so we know how to plan.

In case of rain, this event will be rescheduled. A parent must accompany a child. Parents are also responsible for going through each child?’s bag.

MPD TO HOST "WATCH YOUR CAR" PROGRAM

The Mesa Police Department has planned another ?“Watch Your Car?”
promotion for Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dobson Ranch Library Community Room.

Officers hope to once again offer the VIN etching, however, they are still waiting for a confirmation from the auto theft detectives.

Officers also plan to distribute steering wheel locks on Thursday, Feb. 20 and Thursday March 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Central substation, 130 N. Robson St. in downtown Mesa.

MM GIFTS MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT EVCCC

On behalf of the Board of Directors for the East Valley Children's Crisis Center, Joe Haddow recently called to thank the residents of Marlborough Mesa for their generosity. The toys that residents donated were greatly appreciated.

The Dec. 14 toy drive drew more than 100 people to our park, where food, fun and Santa Claus helped create a festive holiday atmosphere.

The residents of Marlborough Mesa are invited to tour the center and learn more about the valuable programs the crisis center provides. Call Jackie Bink at (480) 969-2308 to schedule a tour. Make sure to mention you are a Marlborough Mesa resident.

MAILBOX THEFT CAUGHT ON CAMERA IN MMESA

It was over in less than four seconds, but a mailbox theft was caught on camera in a Marlborough Mesa neighborhood around 8:30 a.m. on January 24.

Two good photos of the dark colored truck show a blond female with a ponytail leaning out and snatching the mail as an accomplice drove up on the sidewalk past the mailbox. These pictures were passed out to all homes.

The truck has many custom features and appears to be a General Motors product. Custom features include a chrome grill, front and back chrome bumper guards, chrome wheels and fender guards.

To prevent more mail thefts, there are some precautions that homeowners can take. There are two conveniently close U.S. Post Office drop boxes located at the southeast corner of Guadalupe and Alma School roads, just south of the shopping center buildings. Another drop box is at the southwest corner of Guadalupe and Country Club, in the Texaco/Car Wash area, southeast corner of property.

There is also a mail center in the Safeway Plaza where you can drop letters and mail.
