SCHOOL BOUNDARY DECISION is in!!
School Boundary Change Vote is In!
-By Nancy Borg, AZCAT21877@AOL.COM
Nov 4, 1999 The PABDAC voted unanimously to NOT change the school boundary for our neighborhood.
Thanks go to all of the neighbors who helped to pass out flyers, collect petition signatures and work so hard to ensure that our school borders would not change.
Thanks to all of the kids who worked so hard on the awesome posters throughout the neighborhood!
Thanks to all of the neighbors who signed the petition, and mailed in the letter to Mr. Skoglund.
And, thank you to all of the homeowners who showed up at the Boundary Meeting on 11/3!
Because of the above efforts there will not be a need for a second meeting on 11/17. The Boundary Committee understood that our community was against this change. We presented 265 signatures on the petitions, and the number of letters which Mr. Skoglund received was
impressive.
It is amazing what a unified neighborhood can accomplish. Let's continue the wonderful communication and partnership that we found during the past week!
PAINT PARTY SCHEDULED
PAINT Volunteers Needed
NOVEMBER 20, 1999 , from 7am-12noon we, as a neighborhood in Marlborough Mesa will be painting our perimeter fences on Alma School and Guad. We need YOU. The City of Mesa has provided the paint and rollers. I met with the General Contractor of the Alma School and Guad. project today (Nov. 16), and he assures us that all the plants will be in and on soakers. We MUST be responsible for them, as we have to replace them if we should step on any. They will make sure that all the dirt piled against the fences will be cleared away for us. Some of the older kids can also paint and run errands -- so please let them be a part of this.
Tools, "things" needed: We need to provide the "fuzzy" for the rollers -- long nap ones work best for block. PEOPLE. Old clothes for clean-up. Those of you whose properties back Alma School or Guadalupe -- if you could provide a water hose going over the back fence -- that would be a great help. PLUS -- you painters out there -- anything else you can think of that I might have forgotten.
After the Work -- it's lunchtime Debbie Glick on Olla is the coordinator of the food, and she will contact people to bring the hot dogs, drinks, buns, ketchup, mustard, plates, charcoal, etc. If you CANNOT work that day -- please call me at 831-1525 and I will give you her phone number and you can provide one of the above items to donate. It would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alma
120 GALLONS OF PAINT!
The Paint Party
Know just how much 120 gallons of paint will cover???
Those neighbors of Marlborough who helped paint on Saturday, November 20, 1999 can tell you! That 120 gallons covered (some with a double coat)all of our wall around Marlborough Mesa along Alma School Road.
PICTURES will be on one of the Community Pages soon. (maybe more than one)
What a successful party -- just enjoyable to see everyone working together -- just like the "good ol' days". We were finished before noon. We had representatives from nearly every street in our development -- and several from the same street. As I look over the people who signed in -- and if it had been a contest -- I think Olla in the 900 block would have won. They had a great
turnout.
We did not have enough paint to do Guadalupe, so the question was asked -- do we want to pay someone to do it or do we want to do this again? Overwhelmingly, people said it was fine to do it again with one stipulation -- AFTER the holidays! We all agreed to that. So, the plan is probably late January or early February of 2000. So, if you could not help out this time around, start planning for that time.
I will get back in touch with the city and see if we can get more paint -- color is the real issue. ICI Paints on 1040 S. Country Club Drive mixed all of our 125 gallons before to make it all one color -- otherwise we would have had to do it in a 50 gallon container. I think that would have been a mess to say the least.
If you were NOT one of the neighbors who could help and you know of someone who did -- please let them know how much they are appreciated. A little word of thanks goes a long way.
Happy Hollidays

PAINT PARTY PICTURES
There are plenty of pictures -- we think we got one of everyone who helped in the painting of our fence on Alma School. Unfortunately, this area of Neighborhood Link does not permit (or have space)for those pictures.
However, check over in the Community Pages area -- you will find some of the pictures. I can only put one picture per page, so I will "picking and choosing" wisely so as to get everyone included in one of these pages.
Sooo many people have either phoned, emailed or personally said thanks to all those who helped make Marlborough a "cleaner" looking place on the outside.
